Nexus Water Path

Project type

Big Project - Redesigning the Templeman Library

Location

University of Kent, Templeman Library

The Nexus Water Path turns one of the busiest, most overstimulating areas of the Templeman Library into a place where students can actually pause. It is a winding, shallow foot plunge that runs through the space, inviting people to slow down, cool their feet and reset between study sessions.

The challenge was to introduce calm and a sense of water into a high traffic environment without disrupting how people move through it, so the paths curve between the seating clusters rather than cutting across them, guiding circulation while creating moments of stillness.

This project shows my ability to take a scheme from concept right through to construction. I planned the spatial layout, resolved the technical build up of the plunge and seating, and produced a complete drawing set, plans, sections, and 1 to 10 technical detail. It reflects the strengths I would bring to a studio, considered spatial planning, accurate technical detailing and the ability to develop a design to a build ready standard, all in service of spaces that support wellbeing.
